With the recent passing of an icon, the vile hatred and anger from a certain political side has been extreme. Rush Limbaugh, a long-time conservative radio host and recent Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, died on Wednesday, February 17th, 2021. And the left celebrated.
When RBG died, America mourned. All races, all walks of life, all religions, and all values mourned for her death. Some may have felt distraught at the losing of one such extreme leftist judge, while others were saddened by the loss of a human being at all. The same can not be said for Limbaugh’s death.

Immediately upon the announcement, Twitter jumped into a party. Champagne and little finger desserts were immediately brought out as Twitter allowed raunchy, despicable hashtags trend. Some of these hashtags are so intense that we cannot share them here on Seriously Political. People were attacked for having anything nice to say about Rush. Any good word about the man was immediately covered by some of the worst hatred one can give. Many people, upon seeing Tweets that either memorialized Rush or, at the very least, said that they are saddened by a pillar of radio dying, were immediately attacked on the front of “Well, Rush was rude so we should be too!” I can definitely say that Rush Limbaugh made some major moral mistakes in his radio career. He had some skits that were and are tasteless. He said some things that he later apologized for. However, I cannot sit back and say “Oh, right. Rush said bad stuff so we should celebrate his death.” The reason that this stance is impossible for me to take, besides my belief expressing the importance of EVERY life, is because the left is extremely guilty of this very things. Deleted Tweets, phone calls, text messages, emails, etc, have all been incriminating evidence for those on the left. Illegal discussions, hate speech, and outright threats are covered up. The fact that we, meaning conservatives, are too sit back and let the left torture Rush for things he said many years ago just cannot, and will not, sit well with me when the left is guilty of things that topple the sayings of Rush.
Now, we get it. Rush was not always the most moral man. Rush also made plenty of people mad. The political stunt of him getting the Presidential Medal of Freedom was certainly done to spit in the face of those on the left, but the fact that many thousands of people are openly giddy about his death is appalling. No matter what you think of Limbaugh’s history, no matter what you think of his politics, it all comes down to one thing.
Rush was a human, and that means that his death means something.
